Kitab pics

Manish Vij of Ultrabrown has some nice camera-phone photos of the Kitab festival, especially the reading/launch held at Good Earth. Disclaimer: the one of me with the Sula has clearly been tampered with - I never look that beatific while consuming wine and listening to poetry. (I'm also in a couple of the more indistinct pics near the bottom, chatting with poet Vivek Narayanan, who hates being photographed. Careful, Manish.)

  2. Hi Nisha,
been very busy with other stuff. You have some good posts about the fest up on your blog though - I was there at the Tishani Doshi-Nirpal Dhaliwal too, and quite amused by the obsession-with-sex question.

  3. My Lumix would shudder at being described as a camera phone! Though if you're describing the skill of the photog you're probably right :)

  4. Damn Jai Arjun! You don't look a wee bit like I thought you did. I imagined you with a mustache (thought I read that you had one in one of the earlier posts) and short cropped hair, gray in parts.

PS: I am not a stalker.

  5. Manish: sorry about that! As you may have noticed, I was under the influence of Sula when you were pointing the thing at me (from two feet away, I might add). Besides, the Lumix clearly was shuddering when a couple of those pics were being clicked :D

ArSENik: have had a very scruffy moustache and beard in the past, but for very brief periods. See this for an example. (More regular photos here and here.)

  6. Yeah...beards are cool man. I grew one a couple of times - after watching Big Lebowski, when I had little desire to do anything in life, least of all shave, and recently, while reading Upamanyu Chatterjee's "English, August", inspired by the protagonist, who I must say I am a lot like (apart from the similarity in our names).

  7. Gosh! All of you - Chandrahas, Aditya, you - have sideburns! And Kitab seems like an "uppity" festival - full of shiny, happy, "intellectual looking" people

  8. Just saw the bearded you. And that looks much more like the Jai Arjun I imagined than the one at Kitab!

  11. Paresh: it's working fine on my comp. Maybe there was a temporary problem. Or try typing www.ultrabrown.com separately and then scroll down for the relevant post.

  13. I just wanted to point out that if someone were to take that picture of Jai with a beard on the couch and photoshop a remote in his hands and some popcorn and sundry snacks all over his chest and tummy, it would be one hell of a snap to put up on Orkut.

  14. Or even worse: place a copy of Five Point Someone in his hands ;)
