*Nudge nudge*

The Flipkart price for the Book is now rupees 188 only (25 percent discount). Which means the royalties will buy me two small packets of Cadbury Gems for my evening walk. Order now and feed a writer

P.S. as discussed in Comments, royalties are a fixed percentage of the list price. So three Gems, not two.

I'm curious - do royalties vary by the price at which the book is sold? I thought writers got a fixed percentage of the list price, no matter what the discount.

And hey, this is bad news for me too. I could have saved twelve whole rupees by waiting till now to order.

On the other hand, it was a gift for the Guy, and I've rarely seen him devour a book that fast.

(No, I haven't read it yet. Plan to stay away from it till the train journey to Delhi, so it is fresh in my mind when I meet you. Because I tend to forget much when I move on to the next book. I am admiring my self-control, not reading a book I so want to.)

Any particular reason why you take Cadbury Gems for your evening walk?

Unmana: actually yes, I think the royalties ARE a fixed percentage of the list price (so three packets of Gems instead of two) - I really just wrote the post to remind people about the Flipkart link and then ended up flippantly putting that bit in about the royalties.

Anon: cheap, tasty, warmth-providing in winter. What's not to like?

Nothing except, I didn't expect you write a book so that you can buy packets of gems for your evening walk!

Hi

There is a mistake in the introduction to the book (I got my book from flipkart yesterday and had time enough to read through the introduction only). D'mello has been described as the commissioner of police. But he was the Municipal Commissioner in the movie.

in page xii of the introduction to be exact, second line from the top of the page

Shoubhik: thanks - guess that's something to be looked at for the next edition, if there is one! Hope there aren't many more of those.

Ordered the book yesterday from Flipkart (despite my phobia of online transactions). Hopefully will get it by new year.

Am really looking forward to the
book.

Done, ordered a copy for www.tenderleaves.com. That's another 2 packets of gems. It will be one of the Featured Books when the revamped UI goes live some time next week. Hopefully, we give you a tooth ache pretty soon.

Sid, Harish: good to know - hope you like it.

Anon: Didn't write it for the Gems. Wrote it so I could sneak a photo of my dog into the book. Successfully done, I'm pleased to say!

hullo. nice to see your comment on the subimal misra book. you might like to consider doing an interview with subimal misra- face-to-face - which i would be glad to facilitate, so that you can come to a conclusion, re your "two minds". thanks.

Hi

Shoubhik again

But another of the jarring details, its is a very small one this time. Tinu Anand in Pushpak uses ice daggers, not ice picks (which by the way do not melt)

I so wish that your dog could understand the pains you took to advertise his handsome good looks by the medium your book.

Anon: "her", not "his". And she looks weary and sleep-deprived with dark circles under her eyes, like any Serious Author should!

So you're hinting that "she" ghostwrote the book for you? And you mean mean man, would savour her share of cadbury gems :P
