Pup in repose, with red bindi

Before you ask, no, we aren't the sort of people who decorate/place various objects atop their pets for personal amusement. But the bindi was clearly an aesthetic necessity. Besides, it's the festive season.

Also from the series: Pup with rubber frog, awaiting manicure.

And pup posing as Goddess Kali, with vanquished pink Ganesha at side.

What's the idea behind the Bindi thing? Is it the ideal potrayal of a demure Indian housewife? The vanquished Ganesha line is hilarious. It should win the best caption hands down.

As one having put many a bindi on many an unsuspecting pup, I agree, it was an aesthetic necessity.

completely adorable. i've done worse by actually dedicating a whole blog to my old pup.

Like master like pet- both atheists!! However, giving the devil its due- "the vanquished pink ganesha" line was quite funny!!

Kanika: no, she's too young to make those choices - will decide for herself once she's grown up. She'll probably be a confused pup for a while though, since my wife is a believer.

Bindis always tend to fall off.. I have also used a lot of "tikkas" haldi, gulaal or just about anything :)

Preetanjali: yes, we're awaiting the Diwali noise with some trepidation. My mum's older dog has always been very stoical about Diwali sounds - hope Flopsy turns out that way too.

Nirmala might already have seen these pics (I know Sonia, her sister, has), but I'll forward the link to her anyway...
