Just realised that...

Dharam paaji turned 70 today. All rise and hail one of Bollywood’s finest ever (yes, you there, rise and hail even if you don’t agree)!

But, sniff, a 70-year-old Veeru? A 70-year-old Satya? A 70-year-old Dr Parimal? Anyone reading this who can see how tragic that is, be warned: that means you’re getting old too!

(My previous tribute to Dharmendra here. And a nice profile from Rediff here.)

P.S. While in On-This-Day mode, The Griff reminds us that today is the 25th anniversary of John Lennon’s murder. Nice sketch, Peter.

  1. Aww Happy b'day dharam paji. he of excellent comic timing who steals almost every scene in Chupke Chupke and Sholay.

your tribute to him - very nice. "Twenty years before he committed himself to divesting dogs of their blood" - tee hee.

Also - totally agree -'To Die For' elicited a much better performance from Nicole Kidman than the depression movie.

  2. Respectful hat doff and all.

One just wishes he would have roared off into the sunset and not fallen for the whole politics thing. You would think the near un-deification of one Amitabh would keep everyone else away.
