Why Sidhu changed

Heard a Navjot Singh Sidhu interview on the radio today while driving. The RJ asks, “So Sidhuji, were you always such a sher-e-Punjab type, so bold and assertive?” Sidhu replies, in a surprisingly quiet, thoughtful tone, “You’ll be amazed but when I was in school and I was asked to participate in a debate or public reading I would bunk the next three days because I was so scared. And there was a time early in my career when I was even unhappy when I scored a century because I knew I’d have to speak to the press afterwards.”

RJ: So what changed?

At this point I was expecting to hear an admission along the lines of “Oh, my publicity agent told me that if I learnt to speak like a jackass and did it in a strong, declamatory tone, I’d make loads of money commentating and appearing on TV shows in this country obsessed with making celebrities out of dumb people.”

No such candour. Instead Sidhu goes:

“I found religion and meditation, my dear friend, that’s what changed. It made me a stronger, more confident person and that’s why I am the way I am today.”

Strongest argument I’ve heard yet for practicing atheism.

  3. Makes Sidhu sound like Dubya...Dubya gives the same reason for why he stopped drinking.

  4. Methinks Srikanth makes him look good. Marginal difference, though.

  5. Sidhu sounds like "Yogi Berra" - the baseball legend. Here's one of Yogi Berrra's classics: When you reach a fork in the road, take it! :) I wonder if Yogi is religious too. LOL.

  6. One more reason to stay atheist.
One more reason to desist from watching Sidhu's shit.

    Thanks Jabber!

  7. Was watching one of the Sidhu shows on NDTV yesterday. The guy is so full of himself that he was not allowing anyone else to speak. The moderator Sonali Chander was forced to compliment him to make him stop blabbering. Only then he kept his trap shut for a while.

Wonder why on earth she calls him 'Sidhu Sir' ?

  12. Mr.Sidhu is an exceptional debator.he is one of my role models. His knowledge speaks for him.he does what he says and his experiences speak for themself.its a fact that he is a super confident person and his quotations and dialogues back it up.but then its also a fact that he sometimes speaks too much ,that really spoils his persona.but any way he is pleased to be and do what he wants.so My thumbs up for Mr.sidhu.

  14. http://whatyoureallythinkofnavjotsinghsidhu.blogspot.com/

Navjot Singh SIdhu an ex-cricketer & now TV shows commentator and expert is overrated and thousands of Indians are surprised that his cheap jokes, narrow minded analysis, loud and boorish behaviour is being lauded in India. In a studio he NEVER ever allows any one else to speak. Even when it is someone else's turn to talk & the person is talking Sidhu cuts across rudely to give his stupid view point. It looks as if Siddhu feels his view is the only and best view in the studio or while commenting and the public has to listen to it no matter what. Sometimes what he speaks is nothing but crap and not connected to cricket at all for minutes on end. Well Anjali is a side show and an anchor in total loss of control of her show on NDTV with Sidhu around & cannot get Sidhu to shut his trap when her other hosts are speaking some intelligent stuff. He hijacks almost every show he is on which is a national disgrace.

Let us take a recent instance after the sydney test in January 2008. His comments that if Steve Bucknor comes to Bombay his Chaddi will be removed and he will be left to walk Naked.....or that he will be killed in 5 minutes if he ever steps jnto mumbai etc came across with a very bad taste especially with an Australian cricketer guest in the Studio with him. He was speaking like a racist on that occasion espescially with the Harbhajan incident and the introspection if we Indians are racist? It was distasteful and we as Indians were ashamed when he passed those comments and asked the studio audience to clap for that .

It is shameful of NDTV to allow such a show with bad taste to continue in the name of cricket. There was no reprimand for Sidhu & NDTV which calls itself a class channel is stooping to real low levels to ask Sidhu to continue on its shows. Wow Pronoy Roy as NDTV boss you feel it is appropriate for such bad behaviour and comments of Sidhu to be viewed by our kids and younger generation on Prime time TV.

If you have Ajay Jadeja in the studio with Sidhu you can see the difference immediately with Jadeja's thoughtful, controlled and good analytical opinion & comments. Sidhu comes out pretty ordinary and stupid. We need more Jadeja's on such shows. Sidhu is too emotional and agressive like when he physically assaulted and killed a 65 year old for the sake of a parking space and got away scot free because of his political connections and he has not changed .

Navjot Singh Sidhu is pathetic on the laughter show and he is laughing at things even a moron would not. His one liners are cheap and nonsense. Navjot Singh Sidhu is pompous, arrogant and a total ass. People should learn to call a spade a spade and in Sidhu's case a pathetic crack pot. If he has to continue he has to be sent for some serious real language and attitude training. Till then take this national disgrace called Navjot Singh Sidhu off the TV & air waves please for India’s sake

  15. I strongly disagree with TrueIndian...See Sidhu can laugh at even himself and he does his Own thing...And has been really successful at it... He is an MP, A commentator and a Successful Cricketer....He makes people Smile..Who decides what is cheap , what is not....The whole Nation likes him and thats a Fact....One who is successful is only criticized...Mr. True Indian...Go and read Freud and other Psychologists
