They gave me advice about the best bargains at the gold souk (having gone there one day before I went) and also at the duty-free shop at the airport. One of them gave me wake-up calls each morning, an hour before the car came to pick us up. (I didn't actually need the wake-up call, but that's beside the point.) They also helped me with my bags at the airport and willingly took photos for me through the trip (as I did for them).
